Burkburnett's Trails and Tales

Burkburnett Trails & Tales, Inc was organized in 1989 to preserve, promote, and teach the unique history of Burkburnett.  Burkburnett was a sleepy farm town that transformed into a "Boomtown" as a result of the North Texas Oil Boom in 1918.  Over the years, oil production has declined and farming has grown.  Trails & Tales members give guided historical tours which include a video presentation of Burkburnett's history.  Trails & Tales owns the original Burkburnett Railroad Depot which is used as a depository for historical antiques and as a historical museum and the "Riley Building" which houses Trails & Tales, The Burkburnett Chamber of Commerce, and the Burkburnett Development Corporation.  Trails & Tales also owns, displays, and preserves the Hawkins House in Burkburnett, which is one the oldest examples of the "matchbox" (no stud) construction technique, in Wichita County.

Your imagination will run free while talented narrators share with you the Trails & Tales of Boomtown; the folklore, the legends, and the funny, fascinating, authentic stories!
