Parks
The Friendship Community Park sits in the heart of Burkburnett. It is a place where families and friends can relax and take in the surroundings, or get a little exercise. Within its 14 acres, residents can play on the covered basketball court, children can enjoy the playground, or families can partake in a picnic in one of several pavilions and gazebos. The park includes a pond with a fountain and bridge, 1.2 miles of walking and jogging trails, as well as an amphitheater that can seat up to 3,000 people.
The Parks & Recreation Department offer many activities throughout the year which include fishing derbies, the fall pumpkin roll, Christmas in the park with Santa, the annual children's track meet, movies in the park in the summer months as well as the public swimming pool. Golf
River Creek Park Golf Course is ten minutes southeast of Burkburnett on FM 1177. This municipal course is fun, challenging and enjoyed by golfers around the region.
Lakes
Area lakes include Lake Wichita, just twenty minutes away; Lake Arrowhead, thirty minutes from Burkburnett; Lakes Diversion, Kemp, Nocona, and Waurika less than one hour away; scenic Possum Kingdom, one and one half hours south; and Lake Murray, two hours northeast of Burkburnett offering a wide variety of sports, including scuba diving.

The Refuge provides habitat for large native grazing animals such as American bison, Rocky Mountain elk, and white-tailed deer. Texas longhorn cattle also share the Refuge rangelands as a cultural and historical legacy species. More than 50 mammal, 240 bird, 64 reptile and amphibian, 36 fish, and 806 plant species thrive on this important refuge.
