Quilt Show to Benefit Local Charities
Burkburnett, TX. The Quilters of Burkburnett will be holding the Second Annual “Friendship Display of Quilts” on Saturday, October 4, 2008 in the Burkburnett Community Center to benefit Burkburnett’s Local Charities. This will be a non-judged show for all to enjoy. The City of Burkburnett will also be hosting its 8th Annual Friendship Festival on the same Saturday at Friendship Park. This event began in 2001 and has been growing every year, with last year’s attendance topping 5000 people. The Quilt Show offers the attendees another exciting venue to visit.
This year’s special guest speaker is award winning and published quilt artist Richard Larson. Along with the local talent, many historical quilts will be displayed. Besides the quilt show, there will be venders, quilt sales, door prizes, and a quilt raffle. But the main focus of the event is to raise money for Burkburnett’s Local Charities. “We need to stand together and support our local charitable organizations. The outstanding services that are provided produce a direct benefit to our local community,” stated Kimberly Jackson, owner of the Stitching Depot Quilt Shop in historic downtown Burkburnett, Texas.
Currently, we are in need of volunteers and sponsors. If you have a desire to help our community or wish to contribute in another way, please contact The Stitching Depot Quilt Shop at (940) 569-0804. Also, visit http://quiltshow.burkquilts.org/ for more information.
